The Origins of Halloween
2,000 years ago ancient Celtics religiously observed many festivals throughout the year. One of them being Samhain and was known to be both important and sinister. On this one day the veil between the physical and the spiritual world was so thin that demonic spirits were able to travel between both realms.
On this day they believed the gods of the world were visable to mankind.
These gods taunted humans to make them afraid. They used tricks, danger, and fear to do so. Supernatural episodes were prevalent on this day as there seemed to be no barriers between our world & the supernatural.
They also believed the dead could walk among the living. It’s believed that spells were cast on this day and secret knowledge could be known through communing with the dead.
Scholars think this festival is where the celebration of ghosts, food, necromancy, sacrifices, and veneration of the dead began. Halloween continues this tradition to this day.
Celts believed if they burned fruit, vegetables, grain, and animals it would appease the gods. By doing this they felt protected from them.
The Celts had 3 sacred fruits (acorns, apples, & nuts) which are still popular today.
Acorns (Priest of the oak cult). Apples used in dunking for apples was a romance-divination ritual popular with young girls. The Romans also had a festival honoring Pomona (goddess of agriculture/abundance).
HALLOWEEN IN AMERICA
Halloween was not a big celebration until the 20th Century. Irish Catholic immigrants introduced it to us because in Ireland in was a national holiday.
In medieval England (after the reformation) the Church of England abolished the feast of All Hallows Eve due to its association with purgatory.
It was later revived by the Anglo-Catholic church.
JACK-O-LANTERNS
The ancient Celts would use turnips but in America witches would meet with their covens and would use a skull with a candle lit inside it. There’s also a legend about a man, Stingy Jack, who trapped the devil so he wouldn’t go to Hell.
When Jack died he wasn’t allowed into heaven, so his soul was forced to wander the earth. The Devil gave Jack a burning piece of coal inside a carved out turnip so he could see as he wandered the earth. People then carved turnips to keep evil spirits like Jack away.
TRICK OR TREAT
Ancient Druids would prepare large banquet tables with food to appease the dead evil spirits who visited on this day. As mentioned above acorns, apples, and nuts were used in ancient times. After Halloween became commercialized candy became synonymous with Halloween.
COSTUMES
The Druids wore animal heads and skins to acquire the strength of a particular animal. This was also practiced in shamanism and animism. It was practiced to change the personality of the wearer to allow communication with the spirit world. We can see it still being used by children as adults but they call themselves Furries.
WITCHES
With the rise of witchcraft in America came more dark rituals. These include orgies, human and animal sacrifices, spells, hallucinogenic herbs, curses, potions, and many other ways to inflict harm or misfortune on people.
They commonly use necromancy to communicate with evil spirits (including the devil) to get information or to obtain some supernatural power.
Witches use magic and dark magic to complete their goal no matter how evil it is.
“The United States is believed to harbor the fastest growing and most highly organized body of Satanist & Occultists in the world.” -Chuck Missler
The Bible warns against using these things because you are communicating with demons and other nefarious spirits. They take joy in harming mankind and to do this they just need an invitation.
If you could see the unseen realm on Halloween you would be frightened beyond comprehension.
These evil spirits have an innate nature to deceive you.
Statistics show over 100 million Americans are actively involved in the occult and Halloween is their night to do all things evil.
Further, 42% of Americans believe they’ve been in contact with a ghost. This means 42% have communicated with demons.
Another example is the film, The Exorcist, it was based on a real story. It was however, a little boy (not a girl) from New Jersey who experienced this. You don’t have to be a Satanist to be taken over or influenced by a demonic spirit.
There are many sinister rituals practiced by Satanists that include (but not limited to) sacrificing children.

All occult practices are very enticing and may cloak themselves in spiritual language. It can be addicting to be around or participate in.
EVERYONE in our culture has been or will be exposed to these dark practices. Just because you aren’t worshipping Satan doesn’t mean it’s safe.
BEWARE
I can’t say it enough, these are dangerous and hostile supernatural beings who seek to destroy YOU. They aren’t here to help you in any way.
They love to dwell in our flesh and are like ravenous wolves and will do anything to get it. They will tell you what you want. Ephesians 6:12 tells us this as a warning. I’ve had people tell me they aren’t worried because they don’t believe in it. I hate to break it to you but it exists regardless if you believe it or not.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
Please be informed of how God feels about us flirting with darkness.
“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” -1 Timothy 4:1
“If a person turns to mediums and necromancers, whoring after them, I will set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.” -Leviticus 20:6
“When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son/daughter in the fire who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, witchcraft…” -Deuteronomy 18:9-13
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.” -Leviticus 19:31
I know I can’t convince everyone to stay away from celebrating this evil day but please at least cover your family, your spouse, and especially your children in prayer.
